The Word-Sarah BuxtonThe music industry is a tough business.  For an aspiring musician to achieve the ultimate goal of obtaining a full-time career in music, it takes undeniable talent, unmatched perseverance, and yes, even a little bit of luck.  For Sarah Buxton, it has been a long road to where she is today, less than a month away from releasing her debut album, and she’s recently been added as the special guest on the Shine All Night Tour with country chart-toppers Martina McBride and Trace Adkins

After moving to Nashville on her own as a teenager, Sarah began to hone her craft of songwriting.  She started a southern rock band and toured the southeast, gaining the on-stage experience that is vital for an up-and-coming artist.  As she began to make a name for herself in Music City, as a songwriter and performer, Sarah signed with Lyric Street Records in 2005.  Despite hard work and strong performances, a debut release still hadn’t presented itself.  She continued to develop her reputation as a severely underappreciated musician, collaborating with top names Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, Kenny Rogers, John Corbett, and Keith Urban.
Several years later, here she sits with a handful of shows already under her belt on the Shine All Night Tour.  “This is my first full-fledged national tour,” Sarah exclaims, “and I’m so thrilled to be on the road with Martina and Trace.  I’m having so much fun!”  With the star-studded lineup of the Shine All Night Tour, the special guest of the trek would be overlooked and forgotten, one would think.  With Sarah Buxton on the bill, however, who is set to release one of the more anticipated debut albums in recent memory, the buzz and excitement surrounding this tour is at an all-time high.  Luckily for us here in Pittsburgh, the show stops here at Petersen Events Center on February 27, just four days after the release of Buxton’s album.

Unlike many of country music’s rising stars, Sarah had an active hand in the songwriting and production of her debut disc,The Word-Sarah Buxton including her lead single, "Outside My Window."  Having produced/co-produced four of the album’s tracks, as well as penning 10 of the selections, she has truly made this release her own.  “You would think since this is such a strong reflection of who I am and what I’m about, that I would be that much more nervous for the release,” she explains.  “But I’m not at all.  It’s all excitement.  I can’t wait to get it out there to people and see what everyone thinks.  There are no expectations.  I’m so proud of this record.”  And she should be proud.  One of the most anticipated country debuts is also one of the top releases in recent memory, particularly for a female artist (and yes, that includes Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ and Carrie Underwood’s ‘Play On’).

The success that Sarah Buxton is about to embrace is long overdue, as is the stardom that should soon follow.  In today’s music world, so few artists encompass both the passion and the understanding of what it means to offer a selection of songs that truly represents them.  ‘Sarah Buxton’ defines honesty and maturity, two traits that are responsible for carrying this soon-to-be household name to where she is today and to the top of tomorrow’s country charts.

The Shine All Night Tour, featuring Martina McBride and Trace Adkins with special guest Sarah Buxton, will stop here in Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center on February 27, 2010.  Sarah’s self-titled debut album will be released on February 23 in stores and on iTunes.  For the latest news and updates on Sarah, check out her website at http://www.sarahbuxton.com  Take a listen at our full interview with Sarah on our Interviews page!
